A Step Toward Inclusion

At Brown & Brown Helping Hands, we are committed to helping individuals with disabilities reintegrate into society, boosting their self-esteem and ensuring they feel a sense of belonging. We’re excited to share that California has made significant strides in supporting disability employment, helping individuals with disabilities thrive in the workforce.

Recent Disability Employment Updates in California

California is leading the way with new policies designed to support individuals with disabilities in finding meaningful work. In January 2025, two major updates took effect:

  1. Ban on Subminimum Wage: Individuals with disabilities are now guaranteed at least the state or local minimum wage, ensuring that everyone is compensated fairly for their labor.
  2. Enhanced Paid Family Leave and Disability Benefits: Eligible workers with disabilities will receive increased benefits to support them in balancing work and family life.

These legislative changes mark a significant step forward in creating an equitable work environment. People with disabilities are now better positioned to pursue employment opportunities that align with their talents, contributing meaningfully to the workforce and community.
